Shaping Nature is a walk dedicated to exploring the ways humans have shaped, destroyed, and attempted to recreate the natural environment throughout the development of Lower Manhattan. Participants will learn about the natural features that once covered Manhattan, the park system, Native American desire paths, and artist Alan Sonfist’s Time Landscape + more
This walk encourages attendees to develop a deeper awareness of their surroundings, learn about local history, and even make new friends. Be prepared to look around, pay attention, and discuss your findings.
Duration: 2–3 hrs | Distance: 4 miles
Location: This walk begins at Sarah Roosevelt Park and we will end the walk at Washington Square Park.
