This walk explores the Scandinavian history of Sunset Park, Brooklyn. The neighborhood is home to one of the largest Chinese populations in the city, but did you know Sunset Park was once home to thousands of Scandinavian immigrants? Much of the population has left in the later half of the 20th century, but traces of their history remain. Using 8th Avenue (once known as Lapskaus Boulevard after a Norwegian stew) as our roadmap we will uncover this history of Scandinavian immigration and various points of interest.
